3 Benefits Of Homemade Salad Dressing

For many people, no salad is complete without a little bit of their favorite dressing, which often pulls together the flavors of the dish and gives it the extra zest you’re craving. No matter if you’re partial to Italian or balsamic dressings, you can probably make a homemade version that comes with a number of extra perks. Here are three benefits of making your own salad dressing instead of using the store-bought variety.

  1. It’s more affordable
One bottle of premade salad dressing probably won’t break the bank, but you can save a few bucks by making your own. The Dishin’ and Dishes blog explained that you can buy salad dressing ingredients in bulk and it often costs less than buying bottle after bottle of store-variety dressing. Products like vinegar, honey and garlic can be used to make a bevy of unique and tasty dressings, so keep them stocked in your pantry!
  2. Homemade dressings are healthier
Another major benefit of homemade dressings is that they’re free of preservatives, added sugars and artificial flavorings. Chatelaine magazine noted that many store-bought dressings are high in calories, saturated fats, sodium, and sugar. Your body will thank you to pick a homemade recipe that eliminates these bad ingredients and use fresh, nutritional items instead.
  3. The varieties are endless
If you’re tired of the same old ranch, Italian and Caesar dressings, you can spice up your next salad with the wide array of homemade varieties. There are so many different recipes available online, from avocado citrus dressing to mango cilantro vinaigrette. The sky’s the limit when it comes to homemade dressings, so give your taste buds something to get excited about.
